Someone You Should Know: Amy Meyer
Amy Meyer started at the University of Illinois as a chemistry major, but midway through she decided chemistry was not her cup of tea. She was more interested in business, and chemistry’s loss became a gain for Bensman and our clients. Amy is a Personal Lines Manager, working with Bensman clients to keep their insurance up to date.
If you call Bensman with a question about your insurance coverage, Amy might be the person on the other end of the phone. “I take care of the normal customer service needs for 230 personal lines insurance clients,” Amy says. “I handle all the day-to-day things for my clients.”
For example, she conducts an annual review for each client. If you are one of the clients Amy serves, she assesses your coverages and whether those coverages are still adequate for your needs. She can help you determine whether you need to add or change coverage to reflect a change in your situation.
She also helps clients with additions to their policies; if you buy a new car and want to add it to your policy, you might talk to Amy. She can talk to you about your options in making other changes to your policy, such as adjusting your deductible. And she can help you find new coverages, if your situation warrants it. She also handles billing for the Personal Lines Department.
Amy joined Bensman three years ago, working in client support, after her graduation from Illinois. “I found Bensman, and I have learned so much here,” she says.
Amy has an Illinois property/casualty insurance license, and she is working toward her certification as a Certified Insurance Counselor, or CIC. “Earning my CIC will give me a wider knowledge base,” Amy says.
She says the best part of her job is the satisfaction she gets from helping her clients to keep up with occurrences in the insurance industry and in their lives. “My favorite part of the job is helping people, making sure they are covered correctly,” she says. The right insurance package can help shield clients from the unexpected and help make sure they are prepared for all the changes that life hands them.
Amy is familiar with life changes. On June 12, she married David Meyer in a ceremony in Gurnee. Her husband is a structural engineer, and the couple live in Arlington Heights.
