New Job, Same Friendly Face

Catrina Wickman is fairly new on the job in Client Services with the Individual Property and Casualty Division at The Bensman Group, but her voice and face were already familiar to many clients. Catrina had been a receptionist at Bensman for several years before she started in her new position in May 2012.

Catrina says the transition to the new job was a natural one. “At Bensman, personal lines has a lot of hands-on interaction with clients, so I already knew many of our personal lines clients from my time as a receptionist,” she says.

In addition to her receptionist work, she took on a variety of administrative tasks around the Bensman offices. Then, when the Client Services position came open, she threw her hat in the ring and was promoted. Since then, she has earned her Property and Casualty Producer license.

Her new job consists mainly of helping clients with their billing questions, as well as helping them stay on track with their payments. “If clients have a problem or a concern about their billing, they can come to me,” she says.

Catrina says that she enjoys being able to help clients with their questions. Some inquiries she can answer immediately or check and get back to the client. For example, if a client wonders why his or her bill is larger than previously, Catrina can check to see whether something has changed, such as the client adding a new vehicle.

If she cannot answer a question – such as when clients want to discuss ways to lower their premium payments – she transfers the caller to the appropriate account manager.

“I try to work with the clients to make sure everything falls into place,” she says. “I enjoy speaking with the clients, and people are very nice when they call.”

She also appreciates the opportunity to advance at Bensman, and she hopes to be able to take advantage of additional opportunities as they arise. “I’m always looking for ways to do more,” she says.

In addition to her work in Client Services, Catrina is co-chair with Personal Lines Manager Amy Meyer of The Bensman Group Community Outreach Team, which organizes Bensman employee efforts in the surrounding community. Its next event will be collecting, sorting and distributing books for Bernie's Books, a Lake Forest-based organization that collects books and distributes them to underprivileged kids.

"We just want to be able to reach out and help the community," Catrina says.
