Beware Door-to-Door Roofers
Spring storms often are followed by roofers going door to door offering to replace your roof and get your insurance company to pay. It is true that a storm can damage your roof, of course. But if you suspect damage, take these three steps.
Deal with a reputable local company. Many door-to-door solicitors are from out of state, which makes it difficult to check references. Also, if a problem with workmanship develops after they have left the area, you probably are on your own.
Don't give them information about your insurance company. You are the policyholder, and any communication with the insurer should come from you.
Don't agree to anything until you have had contacted our office. Once a claim is filed with the insurance company, they are obligated to open the claim and assign an adjuster. If you contact our office, we can review the information to make sure it won't have an adverse effect on your coverage.
