The Right Time to Buy

Thinking ahead could save you a lot of money throughout the course of a year. Purchasing certain items when you least need them can lead to lower price tags. For example, few people are thinking about bikes in January or swimsuits in September. When January rolls around, most people are packing up their Christmas decorations instead of going out to buy more. But those are when some of the best prices are available, as merchants try to get rid of the old season’s merchandise to make way for the new.

On the other hand, you can find bargains on things that are going to be extremely popular, but only briefly – think tax preparation software in February or raincoats in April. And when a company introduces a new model – such as a car, appliance or electronics -- you often can get big savings on the model it’s replacing.

And some things, such as produce, are least expensive when they are most plentiful near you.

Business Insider offers the following list of what bargains to look for in every month.
