Getting Coverage for a Boat
If the coming summer has you itching to buy a boat, you should know that it takes at least one business day to bind coverage on watercraft. That means that if you call us from the marina at 4:30 p.m. on the Friday before Memorial Day, you won't be able to take out your boat that weekend. So if you are thinking about buying a boat, especially if you know what kind of boat you want, call us so we can start contacting underwriters and getting information on premiums.
Some -- but not all -- of the information we need to get started includes: the year, make and model of the boat; the type of boat (runabout, jet-ski, bass boat, pontoon, etc.); the hull construction (fiberglass, wood, aluminum, etc.); the number and type of engines (outboard, inboard, inboard/outboard, etc.); total horsepower; top speed; purchase price; address when not in the water; name and driver's license number of each operator; and number of years of boating experience of the principal operator. Contact us at 847-572-0800 or firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll have you out on the water as soon as possible.
