Don't Advertise Spring Break Trip on Social Media
Getting out of the cold and onto a beach or somewhere else warm is a great way to spend spring break. But if you go, make sure you or other family members don't talk about it on social media until you get back.
Some people looking for houses to rob start by scouring posts on Facebook or other social media about upcoming trips. A post that says "Only three days until we are off for a week in the Caymans!" can be seen by some people as an invitation to an open house. Similarly, don't post photos or messages while you are gone. Remind your family -- and yourself -- to avoid sharing about your great trip until you have returned.
You also should stop your mail and newspaper or have a trusted friend or neighbor pick them up. Make sure your sidewalks and driveways are shoveled if it snows. Close your blinds and set your lights to come on at night and go off in the morning. Then, relax and enjoy your trip.
At The Bensman Group, we are always available to talk with you about any of your risk or wealth management needs. You can contact us at 847-572-0828 or email@example.com.
