Fall Destinations at Bargain Prices
Fall can be a perfect time for travel. In many places the weather is spectacular, but the crowds have thinned. And prices can be lower than in the peak summer season. Forbes suggests these eight destinations that can be a bargain in the autumn:
Ireland. Act quickly to grab inexpensive flights to the Emerald Isle. Once there, be sure to check out the cities. But also rent a car and tour the countryside, where you can find even more bargains.
Iceland. Flights are affordable, although lodging can be pricey. And if you decide to head out from Reykjavik, consider a bus tour, because car rentals are very expensive.
Paris. The cost of flights to Paris is reasonable, and you also can find a good deal on hotels, especially if you are willing to stay in some of the areas less-frequented by tourists. You also will get a taste of a more authentic Paris.
Spain. Travel to Spain is often less expensive than travel to other countries on the continent. And renting a car in Spain is also very affordable, so be sure to get out and explore the places outside Madrid and Barcelona.
Prague. Flights to Prague are surprisingly inexpensive, especially if you can be flexible about travel dates. Lodging is also affordable, even in the nicest parts of the city. And since there is so much to do in Prague, you don’t have to rent a car.
The Maldives. Flights are not cheap to this luxury destination. But if you search a little, you can find lodging options that will make this trip a bargain.
Georgia. It can be a little tricky to get to this country in the Caucasus, which is just being discovered. But once you get there, you can get by on as little as $50 a day per person for a nice hotel, meals and attractions.
Argentina. This South American country is another destination that can be pricey to get to but offers a lot of bargains when you arrive. A very favorable exchange rate with the U.S. dollar means that everything from rooms to meals to tours is reasonable in cost. One warning, though: The exchange rate fluctuates quite a bit, so check before you go.
