MONTHLY REMINDER
New Medicare Cards Are On The Way

From now through April 2019, the government is mailing out new Medicare cards to Medicare enrollees. As long as your address on file with Medicare is correct, you don't need to do anything to receive the card. If you are not sure if your address is correct, you can check at ssa.gov/myaccount. If you want to be notified when your card is sent, you can sign up for a notification at www.Medicare.gov.

Your old card used your Social Security number, but your new card has a random number as a way of enhancing your security. When you receive your new card, shred your old one and start using the new one. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, that card is the primary card you use when receiving care. However, a provider might also need to see your Medicare card, so you should carry the new card with you too.

Officials warn that scammers might use the release of the new cards to get information from you. Medicare will never contact you and ask for personal information -- such as your Social Security number -- as a condition of sending your card. If someone calls and demands money or threatens to cancel your Medicare coverage unless you provide personal information, hang up and call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE.
